Entrust Datacard Emphasizes Business Transformation through Trusted Identities and Secure Transactions During an Exclusive Security Event in India

Entrust Datacard Emphasizes Business Transformation through Trusted Identities and Secure Transactions During an Exclusive Security Event in India

The event highlighted challenges and opportunities surrounding trusted identities in today's changing security marketplace.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—(July 21, 2015)—Entrust Datacard, in partnership with Information Security Media Group (ISMG), today announced that it hosted an exclusive security event centered around the theme of business transformation through trusted identities and secure transactions at The Leela Hotel, Mumbai, India on June 26, 2015. The event focused on the massive adoption of technology-enabled solutions, which has driven growth in associated risk sectors such as banking and finance, telecom, government, ITES, manufacturing, utilities, retail and e-commerce.

Leading CXO’s from different verticals participated in this event to explore why identity-based security must evolve — especially in todays threat landscape. The security event provided an ideal opportunity to discuss how digital identities will prove to be critical in enabling organizations to protect brand equity, trust, critical information and financial assets.

“This security event provided an ideal opportunity to discuss challenges and opportunities around trusted identities at a high level, with peers facing similar challenges, and to benefit from varied perspectives and experiences,” said Rajiv Singh, managing director, Entrust Datacard South Asia. “It was a great interaction with IT security stakeholders of different enterprise groups to understand the various challenges and requirements for sophisticated and scalable digital security solutions. Entrust Datacard is committed to contributing to the ever changing security scenario in today’s corporate landscape.”

In addition, Geetha Nandikotkur, managing editor Asia and Middle East for ISMG, led a select group of security heads through two panel discussions at the event that focused on security pain points including:
  • Securing Your Digital Identities with Identity and Access Management - What’s Working, What’s Not and What’s Next
  • Smart Ways to Secure Your Digital Platforms
  • Why Digital Identities are Critical to Secure Digital Information

“It was reassuring to see security practitioners having a thought-provoking discussion around enterprise challenges surrounding protecting their digital identity and ensuring a secured transaction in an evolving threat landscape,” said Geetha Nandikotkur, managing editor Asia and Middle East of ISMG.

Open Season for Hacks'n'Attacks

It seems that in the past, when we used to hear about hackers and terrorist groups cyber-attacking, they were rare occurrences, and fairly far between.

The same for physical attacks and facilities penetration, you did not hear of a person or evil crew storming the building all that often.

And those were the few cases we would hear about publically, so who knows how often, and just how badly these actions were really going on in the world that we had no idea about ?!

Today we are seeing and hearing much too much about these intrusions, both in the private and public sectors...Algonquin’s computer server hacked...Cyber attack at NRC...Target data hack...attack on Parliament Hill...Sony Pictures Entertainment hacked...House of Commons warns its employees under cyber attack...

Many organisations have little or no security integrated within their Identification and Physical Access credential programs, let alone still using single factor authentication (username & password) when employees log on to a company network.

With all the available tools today, it doesn't take much for someone to copy a credential such as an ID or building access card; then once they're inside the building, and have all too easily figured out someone's username and password...voila, they now have complete access to that organisation's data and systems.

In these testing times, we cannot stress enough how everyone MUST re-evaluate their positions and policies on physical and logical security.
To be proactive, and not reactive.
To employ security features for ID and Access credentials, Overt, Covert, and Forensic.
To integrate 2FA (2-factor authentication) and even MFA (multi-factor authentication) within their IT/IM infrastructures, using Entrust IdentityGuard Identity Management and Authentication Platform.

New Healthcare ID Regulations for Pennsylvania HB 1482 (2010)

Badge Buddies cards for Healthcare Regulations HB 1482

As of June 1, the state of Pennsylvania’s new healthcare identification law is in effect, meaning organizations must now be fully compliant with HB 1482 (2010).
HB 1482 (2010) requires that healthcare worker ID badges meet specific requirements, namely the inclusion of an employee’s name, photo, title in large, block letters and the facility name.

Do you still need to get compliant with HB 1482 (2010)?
We can help with Badge Buddies role-recognition cards!

  • Badge Buddies’ bold colors and large text will satisfy HB 1482’s title requirement. They are pre-slotted and can be attached to an existing ID card with a strap clip, lanyard or badge reel to create a complete HB 1482-compliant solution.
  • Several pre-printed titles are available, including “PHYSICIAN”, “RN” and “LPN”. Custom Badge Buddies can be ordered for additional employee titles.
