Entrust Datacard Debuts Integrations with Citrix Mobility Solution to Empower Mobile as the New Desktop

Integration between Entrust IdentityGuard authentication and credential management capabilities with XenMobile enable secure anytime-anywhere productivity for the mobile workforce

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn (June 08, 2015)

Entrust Datacard announced it is working with Citrix, a leader in mobile workplaces, to drive productivity and enhance security for the rapidly growing mobile workforce. Entrust Datacard is debuting new integrations with XenMobile®, a comprehensive enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution developed by Citrix, to provide a trusted mobile identity to secure access to sensitive data and corporate information – truly enabling mobile as the new desktop.

The integrations combine the authentication and credential management strengths of Entrust IdentityGuard software with XenMobile’s business optimized mobile productivity apps to deliver secure and frictionless access for the mobile worker and ease the onboarding process for commercial and government organizations.

“Employees want more flexibility including the ability to access organizational resources directly from their mobile devices,” said Josh Jabs, vice president of strategy at Entrust Datacard. “Organizations realize that enabling employees with seamless access to enterprise resources not only satisfies employee demand, but also improves productivity. As such, businesses and IT service organizations know they need to build a strategy around enabling mobile as the primary computing environment. But, the challenge then becomes enabling this environment in a cost-effective and user-friendly manner, without sacrificing security.”

With the new integration, mobile workers will no longer need to manage multiple passwords and separate log-ins. Instead, users can have a more simplified sign-on and a streamlined user experience. The integration transforms the mobile device into a universal mobile credential, creating a single-sign-on process that replaces multiple smart cards, one-time-passcodes, PINs and passwords.

This can all be done by leveraging enterprises’ existing and underlying architectures – including policies put into place by IT departments, as well as credentials that workers already use to access their PC desktop environment. This simplifies the process and minimizes operational costs, ultimately protecting investments.

The Entrust IdentityGuard software secures mobile identities, application access and transactions with a range of embedded credentials, such as digital certificates and simplifies the mobile application deployment process by tying into current identity and access management infrastructure. The solution also meets regulatory standards, including FIPS-201 and NIST 800-157, for the issuance of derived credentials. By controlling access to applications with authentication of both the mobile device and the user, organizations can confidently offer mobile access.

“The proliferation of devices and the mobility of today’s workforce are driving seismic change in the industry,” said Manoj Raisinghani, vice president of product marketing, Mobile Platforms group, Citrix. “The integration between Entrust Datacard and XenMobile will provide enhanced authentication and credential management capabilities to our customers, empowering them to improve security and flexibility, streamline processes, and enhance productivity while being mobile.”

As a Citrix Ready® partner, Entrust Datacard is joining other experts and thought leaders at the Citrix Mobility 2015 Conference this week in Washington D.C.; as well as participated at the recent Citrix Synergy 2015 – sharing insights and innovations and defining direction for the future of the mobile workspace. In addition to the integrations with XenMobile, Entrust Datacard offers a number of advanced technologies that empower the mobile workforce while delivering enhanced authentication and security to the enterprise.

HID Global Anounces pivCLASS® Biometric Reader

HID Global has announced the availability of the pivCLASS® biometric reader, the latest addition to HID Global’s Government Solutions portfolio.  Primarily designed for use by the U.S. Federal Government, multi-factor authentication is also recommended for government agencies worldwide.  This versatile reader is also appropriate for private institutions with sensitive areas, such as hospitals, clinics, research facilities and other critical-infrastructure applications with complex security requirements.

The HID Global pivCLASS® biometric reader is a FIPS-201-compliant reader for “Exclusion” areas.  Featuring a fingerprint sensor, keypad and card slot, the reader also integrates with the pivCLASS authentication module (PAM) to verify the status of identity data before permitting access.  Multiple layers of verification with PAM integration include the following:
  • PIV: The validity of the scanned card and its certificates, in accordance with the personal identity verification (PIV) standards established by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
  • PIN: The on-card match of the personal identification number (PIN) stored on the card with the PIN entered by the cardholder.
  • BIO: The comparison of the fingerprint biometric (BIO) stored on the card with the cardholder’s live fingerprint presented at the reader.
Multi-layered authentication that includes biometric verification provides powerful protection against cards that have been tampered with (counterfeited, altered, copied, cloned) or fraudulently used (revoked, lost, stolen, shared).

Key Benefits
Dynamic – Single card credential can be used to access multiple, affiliated facilities.
Convenient – Supports multiple authentication modes that can be dynamically changed based on time of day, day of week or threat level.
Compliant – Supports public-key infrastructure (PKI)-based FIPS-201 cards, including PIV, PIV-I, CIV, CAC, TWIC and FRAC to meet compliance standards for strong authentication.

Entrust Datacard Innovations Lets Users Simply Press “OK” For Simpler, More Secure VPN and Web Access

New features for Entrust® IdentityGuard mobile provide simply better authentication, as well as strong and convenient transaction verification

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—(April 21, 2015)—Entrust Datacard today announced the introduction of a new push authentication capability in its Entrust® IdentityGuard Mobile platform that allows authorized users to more easily and securely access VPNs and websites with their mobile phones or tablets.

Instead of introducing another easily misplaced or forgotten hardware token, introducing complex passwords or series of security questions, the new IdentityGuard Mobile push authentication sets up a secure session using a mobile device by instantly pushing alerts to the users to verify login right as they access their VPN network. With a simple “OK” acknowledgement from the user, the VPN or website access is securely established – making it much faster and more convenient to authenticate users and secure the connection.

"Due to the changing threat landscape, addressing regulatory compliance and breach threats means companies need to continuously secure employee access to company networks and applications – especially as the workplace becomes more mobile and ubiquitous," said David Rockvam, vice president of product management for Entrust Datacard. "It only makes sense that authentication solutions align with that new reality. At Entrust Datacard, we are transforming mobile devices into secure, simple to use, always in hand authenticators to ensure data is protected for businesses and people."

While the user experience is incredibly simple, the new feature is rooted in Entrust Datacard’s most advanced approach to defeating account takeover attacks. Adopting this new mobile-enabled push notification approach allows enterprises to evolve from older, less secure methods that rely on usernames, passwords and hardware tokens. In addition, it reduces IT cost and complexity by eliminating the need to purchase dedicated and often costly hardware tokens, as well as simplifies user provisioning and management because users already know how to download and upgrade mobile applications.

"Enterprises are looking to evolve away from passwords and move onto more secure and convenient authentication," said Rockvam. "This new IdentityGuard Mobile push notification feature is especially appealing to users and IT staff because it greatly enhances security, yet makes the process simpler for authorized users. No more forgotten or compromised passwords for users, and less worries for IT professionals."

Mobile push authentication is a key element of the Entrust IdentityGuard enterprise authentication platform, which is designed for flexibility and scalability. Organizations can deploy the platform for their uses today, and then as requirements change or new threats emerge, Entrust Datacard customers can quickly scale up capacity or deploy new technologies by simply unlocking new functionality through the platform.

IdentityGuard Mobile Push Authentication is part of the latest release of the IdentityGuard platform that includes a number of innovative capabilities to help banks and other enterprise customers address their identity based security needs. Specifically, the IdentityGuard platform now supports both QR code-based transaction verification and the recently introduced Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) 3.0.

QR Code-based verification provides banking customers a strong and convenient mobile-based approach that eliminates the need for dedicated hardware such as EMV CAP readers or pocket tokens. Additionally, support for Microsoft ADFS 3.0 allows IdentityGuard mobile two-factor authentication to be extended to all cloud-based enterprise applications that leverage ADFS 3.0.

The new release of the IdentityGuard platform is now available and more information can be found at https://www.entrust.com/products/entrust-identityguard/.
